Specialty LNG

Specialty LNG is an ultra-high-purity, performance-engineered form of Liquefied Natural Gas designed for applications that demand precise combustion behavior, consistent thermal output, and exceptionally low emissions. Unlike standard fuel-grade LNG, Specialty LNG is produced using advanced gas treatment, fractionation, and composition control technologies to achieve tightly controlled methane content and minimal trace impurities.

The natural gas feedstock undergoes deep purification followed by cryogenic liquefaction at approximately –162°C, converting it into a clear, odorless, non-toxic, and energy-dense liquid. Specialty LNG is widely adopted in high-efficiency industrial processes, power generation, commercial systems, and specialized applications where fuel quality directly impacts process stability, equipment life, and emissions compliance.

Composition & Quality Control

Specialty LNG is characterized by its controlled molecular composition and extremely low contaminant levels, ensuring predictable and repeatable combustion performance.

Methane (CH₄): 90–99%
Ethane (C₂H₆): Controlled trace levels
Propane & heavier hydrocarbons: <1%
Nitrogen (N₂): <1%
Carbon dioxide (CO₂): <20 ppm
Moisture (H₂O): <1 ppm
Sulfur compounds (H₂S, mercaptans): <1 ppm

This strict quality regime ensures:
* No flame instability or calorific fluctuations
* Protection of burners, turbines, and engines
* Compliance with global emissions and safety standards

Key Characteristics

High-Purity Methane Content
High methane concentration provides clean flame characteristics, rapid ignition, and stable heat release, ideal for precision heating and power systems.

Low-Emission Fuel
Specialty LNG delivers:
Up to 50% lower CO₂ emissions than coal
Negligible SOx emissions
Very low NOx formation
Zero ash or particulate residue

High Energy Density
With an energy content of 50–55 MJ/kg, Specialty LNG offers high usable energy per unit mass, reducing fuel handling and storage requirements.

Cryogenic Storage Stability
Maintains chemical and physical stability during long-term cryogenic storage, with controlled boil-off rates and predictable vaporization behavior.

Consistent Combustion Performance
Uniform Methane Number and Wobbe Index enable automated and repeatable operations.

Safe & Non-Corrosive
Non-toxic, non-corrosive, and non-reactive, making it safe for modern cryogenic infrastructure and sensitive industrial equipment.

Storage, Handling & Safety

Specialty LNG is stored and handled using vacuum-insulated cryogenic tanks and vessels designed to maintain ultra-low temperatures and prevent contamination.
Key safety features include:
* Pressure relief and vent systems
* Boil-off gas recovery or utilization
* Continuous temperature and pressure monitoring
* Gas detection and emergency shut-off systems

LNG remains non-flammable in liquid form and only ignites when vaporized and mixed with air within specific concentration limits.
